• Scan at x10, find thin end of smear, examine large trypomastigotes at x40
• Note position of the kinetoplast, nucleus, undulating membrane and free portion of the anterior flagellum
• This is a nonpathogenic species found in cattle world-wide, including Australia
• Intermediate host - Tabanid flies
